Who We Are

The IHM Conference of the International Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a volunteer organization that provides financial assistance, counsel, and other support to individuals and families experiencing unexpected crises, primarily in Andorra, Roxbor-ough, Manayunk, and Wissahickon. For the past 12 years, we have paid bills, provided food and clothing, offered guidance regarding social service organi-zations in the area, and much more.
 

How We Are Funded

Our funding is primarily from our generous IHM parishioners who add donations to the “poor boxes” found throughout our church, and through donations to the Annual Appeal via a church envelope or online. And we are extremely grateful for both known and anonymous gift donations of $100 to $5000 from parishioners, friends, and local businesses. 
 
We are blessed with the gift card support of our parish’s Knights of Columbus organization. Plus, clothing and household goods collections held twice a year at the parish support our mission. 
 

How We Help

In 2025, our volunteers personally met with 30 distressed, struggling families and individuals in their homes, both Catholic and non-Catholic, totaling 66 adults and children.  Our financial support amounted to over $30,000, half of which went to rents/housing assistance and eviction prevention. The other half  paid bills for: utilities, food, transportation, auto repairs, clothing, household goods, furniture, medicine & health aids, home repairs and other necessities. In addition to financial support, we have provided counseling and referrals to public agencies specializing in assistance to those in need.

Is Someone You Know in Need?

Please spread the word about our Society to families and individuals in need of help. Encourage them to call 215-483-1000 (the IHM Rectory) and ask for the SVDP Help Line where they can leave their message with their call-back information. Someone from our Society will contact them. A Team Visit will be arranged to assess and verify need. Everything is handled in confidence.
